Compass Art Center
I'm excited that this piece is on display among others in a brand new location... the new Compass Art Center which has just opened its doors in my neighborhood of Kensington, MD. This art center is an expansion of an outstanding art school, The Compass Atelier, where I completed the Master Artist Program.
This new art center includes classes for adults and children, gallery exhibitions, and active artist studios.
brushstrokes matter
Over the years that I’ve been painting I’ve had a lot of comments from people about how much they love my brushstrokes. Do you want to hear more about why I paint them? I’ve put a bit of thought in to this topic and there is more to it than meets the eye.
Chateau Orquevaux artist residency in France
In 2020 I applied for an artist residency at the Chateau Orqueveaux International Artists and Writers Residence. I dreamt BIG and I applied. Why not? What a thrill it was to receive the letter saying that I was accepted into the program and awarded the The Denis Diderot Grant toward the cost of the residency.
making the rounds
Inspiration can come from many places - my community, nature, thoughts, dreams, a long run through the neighborhood. But there's nothing like stepping outside of my own world and studio and taking some time to appreciate the work of others.
new painting “Imagine”
Our imaginations can be the fuel for so much in life - growth, purpose, escape, fun, fear, invention. We each have our own story and may use this power differently. My new painting “Imagine” explores this concept for me.
art review January 2023
I am so honored to have captured the attention of esteemed art critic Lenny Campello who wrote a wonderful review of my work exhibiting at the Strathmore Mansion.
"I first came across Jennifer Lynn Beaudet’s work at the Paint the Town event last year which was my honor to jury -- as I recall she was an honorable mention winner at that show. Her work at Strathmore is amongst the best in a show where there is not a single bad painting. This artist has that hard-to-describe ability to capture the human essence of her subjects in paint."
show at Strathmore Mansion
The 2023 Master Artist Program Thesis Show at Strathmore Mansion is taking place from 1/14-2/11/23. I am showcasing a body of work developed during my three year artistic journey at The Compass Atelier.
The opening reception for the exhibition was on the evening on Thursday, January 19th. What a night!

anatomy for artists
WAY back when, I was an undergraduate psychology major with an exciting job in a lab focusing on neuroscience. I had dreams of applying to medical school to be a doctor.
***spoiler: the doctor part didn’t work out.
Somehow, along the way, I never managed to study basic human anatomy to any great extent.
shop for prints
Finally! My website now has a “shop prints” page to make it easier for you to shop and purchase high-quality prints of my artwork for your home or a gift.
focus on figure and portraiture
Right now I'm spending time focusing on the human figure. Thankfully, some of my favorite models conveniently happen to live with me.
